[0.3] Compatible with Flash player 7 or not ?!

February 8th, 2006 by kiroukou :: General, Project, en :: RSS 2.0 :: trackback

I am programming the next release of Sandy, and I have to ask you the following question :

Is the player 7 (and Flashmx2004) compatibility important for you ?

For peole who did not know, the [0.2] release allows you to export your swf in Flash player 7 (and 6 I guess) as long as you don’t use Bitmap texturing.

Why this question?
Because it will be much simpler for me to forget the problem of compatibility.

As much as Sandy is growing and features are added, Flash8 new possibilities become more and more interessting and usefull.

So can you give me your point of view about that with a comment? For those who don’t have time to leave a comment, I am going to make a poll, available on the blog’s right menu.

PS : For people who are interessted, there are the first examples of the 0.3 release.

    No, to me it isn’t important at all. Better to give us all the features you can.

    Flash 7 compatibility is not important at all, you’d better optimise for player 8.

    cheers, Martijn.

    Flash 7 is important until there is a player on linux for flash 8

    I think that It is important too keep a stable version for player 7, but when it is reached I would stop developing it and go for the player 8 version.
