Seraf and his french communication company are celebrating their brand new website, and guess what? They did a Sandy 3D interactive interface!
More than a company website, this is also the official Sandy’s technical demo. It is perfectly illustrating the power of Sandy and 3D in Flash in general.
Just a small technical word about this demonstration, it is 100% Sandy. I mean this is not an animation exported from a 3D modelisation software, but a real and perfect use of Sandy’s API. Hope you’ll appreciate the artistic work !
Don’t forget to play with the left/right keys of your keyboard to fully appreciate the real time 3D power.
You’ll appreciate the loading time and environment interactivity that real time 3D brings compared to exported 3D animations.
allink a member of the forum has presented his last realization, the website eventagentur.ch
The interface is based on a 3D room and the mouse allows you to interact with the environment.
And of course, the 3D part has been realized with Sandy ![]()

This is the first time, as far as I know, that Sandy is used in an website interface. And I must say that I really like it! I’m quite satisfied to see Sandy used and being efficient in this kind of project.
A little word from the author :
Some facts and figures:
-All the content can be edited by the client himself with our cms
- The browsers forward and backward button work inside the page (on all browsers exept Safari)
- Content can be bookmarked
- The Site supports deeplinking for example this link http://www.eventagentur.ch/?do=page&pageID=276&langID=19 takes you directly to the clients page
- The links mentioned above get indexed by search engines, making this the first 3D room searchable by google
The client is satisfied, I am, what else ?
PS: Do not hesitate to show me what you’ve done with Sandy or Distortimage btw.
Wow! It seems that animals are the best way to present a 3D engine.
Today it’s Papervision flash 3D engine, soon available under open source, to present it’s Rhino :
This new AS2 engine shows a lot of great stuff.
The scene contains 514 vertices and 1005 polys imported from 3ds Max
Well performance seems to be good! It is using the same functionnalities as Sandy to texture objects a similar texturing algorithm (linear texturing with flash 8 matrix), and the same kind of parser to load 3DS Max ASE files.
I must say that it is a really good job, even if I must admit that seing another open source 3D engine upcoming is a bit a shame, I would rather prefer to see people help on Sandy’s project in order to have a really complete engine.
Great job C4RL05 !
I’m proud to announce a new release of Sandy. Sandy is now at version 1.1,which is quite stable and complete.
And to celebrate this new release, a fantastic demo by jérôme Birembaut aka Séraf is available
It uses the latest features of Sandy 1.1 and requires Flash player 8.
I would like to mention the Sandy’s forum RSS which allows you to keep informed about new posts and Sandy development. Like a mailing list, this feature makes the information come to you!
I would like to present to you some works done with Sandy library and the DistortImage class.
Hi,
I wanted to update (and rename!) my DistordImage class, which has been very popular
, for a long time and yesterday night I had what I hope to be a great idea to make it much more faster.
Unfortunately I don’t have time currently to test it as I want (nor to continue Sandy btw), so I decided to share my actual code/idea and ask to the community to help me to finish it
As it is free and opensource, and that a lot of talented people are interessted in this class, we should have an efficent DistortImage class soon
I’ve written a topic in Sandy’s forum with my details and source. You can see it here : http://sandy.media-box.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=5168
I hope you will play the game if you have some free time.
Good work everybody
