Dont spam pv3d list... ever
Sincever I made this picture in Dec 2007, I knew I am going to use it again :) Guys at revolver3d.com apparently have released their “commercial grade” FreeSpin flash 3D engine yesterday and, to celebrate the release, they posted an announcement on Papervision mailing list. Needless to say that their announcement received heavy backfire immediately.

I could not find any pricing info on FreeSpin site, but their examples and documentation sections reveal nothing that could not already be done with existing free engines. It will suffice to say that their claimed “correct representation of the vast majority (if not all) of 3D models and scenes… without disappearing polygons and/or flawed sorting” fails to work even in their simplest example.

Come to think about it, all of this hype just two weeks after another, much more impressive, commercial engine goes open source. To conclude, these guys have a long way to go before they start making serious money with it.

Thomas, who is “makc” and why has this troll taken over your blog and forum?

Also, is Sincever a word in the English language?

What do all these garbage posts from makc have to do with Sandy?

    Hello dear user,

Makc is a developer of the Sandy project. He helped a lot bringing a higher level of shading effects and material capabilities.

I used to wish that blog to be a central place to discuss 3D in Flash platform. Meanwhile several other projects appeared, with their own blog. But each blog is very dedicated to the project it is in relation with.
What we tried, and the reason why I gave Makc the possibility to post, was to talk more generally about 3D in Flash. We always talked about Away, PV3D and many more projects in this blog, with no major relation to Sandy project.

I guess that post was a bit too much ironic.
    Best,
    Thomas

I don’t think you used the program properly and your claims that we do not support the product or our claims is not rooted in reality. We do not post pricing because our product is free while in Beta version. Pricing will be posted as soon as we make a decision to charge for it. As far as our models, when used correctly you will find our claims to be fully valid. It would be good of you to go to the site and try the release fully and you will see that Freespin3D is the real deal!

Where did I claim you do not support it? On the other count, pv3d post did said “Revolver… has announced the release”, not “Revolver… released”, so it was my misinterpretation here; being still in beta explains no pricing info indeed. Finally, I did not “used the program (im)properly”; the screenshot with sorting bug comes from your own phone example; it is good if the bug was fixed since then.
