This version, being ported by Floris - click to e-mail -, will replace the broken old 2.0 version of Sandy and continue offering you an AS2 (Actionscript 2.0) version of Sandy with 3.x features.

The most Flash engines nowadays are AS3 and the most AS2 ones are hard to use, not up to date or offer lack of documentation.

Why don't continue with porting the 2.0 version?
The 2.0 version is too long not updated. It'll take more time to find out what's changed in the new Sandy versions, than to port it again.

There's also a better 3.x version of Sandy, better quality and more features. So, don't you think this Sandy version is useless?
The AS3 version has more features and the rendering quality is better, but there are still several reasons to use this version if it fits your needs, namely:

• You can export to older Flash versions, people with older browsers can view your SWF.
• Some wonderful AS2 projects aren't ported to AS3. This AS3 port will make it possible to use them in combination with an up to date version of the Sandy engine.
• Do you like to buy a new Flash IDE with the Actionscript 3 language, but you don't have enough money? Or you're to lazy/don't need to/don't have time/or something else to learn AS3? This Sandy port will carry you through these difficulties.

• Less features: no TextLink, VirtualMouse and 3DS Parser.
• Worser rendering, slower.
• Can't combine with AS3 projects and AS3 features.

Before you're going to get your hands on this, please read this final notice first: this version is very beta and shall be used for prototyping purpose only. We warmly recommend to use the AS2 1.x and AS3 3.x releases, until this one is offically released, up to date and all the bugs are fixed.
